Ly Tai Lap, a familiar MC at many sports events and an experienced runner in domestic races, emphasizes the importance of a "green living" spirit on the race course. As both an observer and participant, he offers practical insights for runners at the upcoming VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio on 1/5. He stresses that environmental awareness is paramount on a route so closely intertwined with nature, such as Can Gio. Having competed there two times, he describes the course as open, with few slopes, wide roads, and extensive green areas, providing a pleasant experience for participants and suiting performance-oriented runners.

"Can Gio is a beautiful course, especially the Rung Sac area with its fresh air and forests lining both sides. Running in such a space means runners need to be even more conscious about preservation," he said.
For Ly Tai Lap, green living is not an abstract concept or just slogans. It manifests first in how runners handle water cups or gel wrappers after use. He advises runners to dispose of cups in designated trash bins at water stations. For those maintaining pace who might miss a bin, he suggests placing trash close to the roadside instead of throwing it into the middle of the path. This approach helps volunteers collect waste easily and reduces the risk of slips or injuries for runners behind.

Runners should also pay attention to energy gels, items athletes often carry themselves. Ly Tai Lap suggests: "Runners can choose shorts or running belts with multiple pockets to keep gel wrappers after use, then dispose of them in designated areas after crossing the finish line. Green running sometimes begins with such small actions."
The VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio 2026, taking place on 1/5, offers an opportunity to conquer a course where "forest meets sea" and promotes a more responsible, environmentally conscious way of running. Throughout this journey through Can Gio's unique green landscape, small habits like proper waste disposal and keeping the course clean contribute to the green living spirit the race aims to foster.
