Navarro opted to compete in the WTA 500 event in Monterrey next week instead of partnering with Sinner. The world number 11 decided to change her plans due to recent poor form, having suffered two second-round exits and a first-round loss in hard-court tournaments in the US.
Sinner now needs to find a new partner if he wishes to compete in the US Open mixed doubles, which will be held on 19/8 and 20/8. The deadline for the world's number one men's singles player to register a new partner is today, 18/8.

Sinner is likely to withdraw, as he will have less than 24 hours to prepare for the mixed doubles, given his Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz at 2 a.m. Hanoi time on 19/8.
Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and Elena Rybakina may also choose to withdraw for similar reasons, as they are all competing in the Cincinnati Open semifinals or final. If this happens, their respective partners, Emma Raducanu, Casper Ruud, and Taylor Fritz, will also have to withdraw.
In addition to Navarro, another American player, Tommy Paul, also withdrew from the mixed doubles. The world number 16 recently returned from injury and wants more time to recover rather than risk competing immediately.
The 2025 US Open mixed doubles event has a new format, featuring eight pairs based on individual singles rankings and eight wildcard entries. The winning pair will receive 1 million USD, while the runners-up will receive 400,000 USD. Novak Djokovic is also participating in this event with fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic.
