On 28/3, Woods was arrested on charges including driving under the influence (DUI), property damage, and refusing to comply with a lawful inspection. The golfer was reportedly driving at high speed, attempting to overtake a tow truck on a residential road, before colliding with the rear of the vehicle, causing his SUV to overturn.
Although he passed an alcohol sobriety test, Woods refused a urine test. Experts suggested he might have been under the influence of drugs or stimulants at the time of the crash. After about 8 hours in custody, a friend posted bail, and Woods was taken home, appearing fatigued.
The incident also drew attention to Woods' relationship with Vanessa Trump, President Trump's former daughter-in-law and the mother of his five grandchildren.
However, according to the New York Post, US federal agents are the ones who personally drive President Trump's grandchildren, not Woods. The newspaper cited sources stating that "agents would never allow Woods to drive the children, even without the DUI incident."

Vanessa Trump has five children with her ex-husband Donald Trump Jr.: Kai (18), Donald III (17), Tristan (14), Spencer (13), and Chloe (11). Trump's immediate family is protected 24/7 by federal agents until he concludes his second term, anticipated in 2029.
Reacting to the incident, Trump, who awarded Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019, stated he was saddened and called Woods "a close friend, a great person, but currently facing difficulties."
According to British newspaper Sportmail, Vanessa Trump was not in the vehicle during Woods' accident. However, she was waiting at home and was very displeased, viewing it as a worrying sign and demanding Woods quickly get his act together if he didn't want to lose their relationship.

Regarding Woods' travel habits, sources indicate the golfer refuses to hire a private driver despite recurring traffic incidents.
According to PEOPLE, the 50-year-old golf legend does not want someone accompanying him to "monitor or know what he is doing," as he values personal privacy. A source confirmed he believes he is "still capable of driving safely."
The source also mentioned Woods is not an extrovert, primarily spends time at home with his children, training, or playing games, and dislikes public attention or scrutiny.

Following the arrest, Kevin Kisner, Woods' teammate on the TGL Jupiter Links team, expressed concern about his friend's condition. Speaking on NBC while commenting on the Houston Open, Kisner called the recent accident concerning. He noted Woods had been working hard to return to play after injury, training actively, and had just registered for the U.S. Senior Open.
"At that time, he was trying to do everything to return, support the TGL team, and hopefully play in the Masters," Kisner said, also emphasizing that the only positive was that no one was injured in the accident.
Kisner revealed he had competed with Woods just three days before the accident, in the TGL final. This was Woods' first competition since his seventh back surgery last October.
This event had sparked hopes for Woods' potential return at The Masters soon. However, following the latest scandal, the golf legend's comeback prospects are now seen as more distant.
