Vietnam's shooting belle at SEA Games

Besides her medals, shooter Phi Thanh Thao also drew attention for her youthful and pretty appearance at SEA Games 33.

At the recently concluded SEA Games in Thailand, Thanh Thao won a team silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle and broke the record in the women's individual 10m air rifle event, scoring 627,6 points.

Previously, in her first SEA Games participation in 2021 at home, the shooter born in 2004 earned a gold medal in the 10m 3-position rifle and a silver medal in the women's 10m rifle event.

In October, she also won the women's 10m air rifle event at the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship, held in Thailand. With a total of 250,1 points, Thanh Thao was recognized by the organizing committee for setting a new Southeast Asian record in this category.

Thanh Thao was the honored shooter chosen to represent Vietnamese athletes at the send-off ceremony for the Vietnamese sports delegation participating in SEA Games 33.

At age 21, she is not only a key member of the Vietnamese shooting team but also possesses a captivating beauty.

In early 2023, Thanh Thao surprised many by volunteering for military service. She currently holds the rank of First Lieutenant, a professional soldier, and is part of the Army shooting team.

Thanh Thao started her athletic journey as a primary school student, beginning with diving. She confidently states she can "swim in all positions".

However, after 5 years of diving, Thanh Thao switched to shooting because the nature of this sport suited her somewhat introverted and reserved personality.

Contrary to her serious, highly focused image typically seen at the shooting range, the 21-year-old shooter readily displays a bold, charming style in everyday life.

In a promotional photoshoot, she maintained a confident, strong, yet alluring demeanor, despite admitting she had never before worn heavy makeup, distinctive clothes, or posed for professional photographers.

Besides her sharp eyes, Thanh Thao's slender, attractive physique clearly demonstrates a top athlete's rigorous training regimen and high discipline.

Nevertheless, she states that she is most comfortable and confident in only two outfits: her specialized competition gear and her military uniform.

Off the field, Thanh Thao is also known as one of the Vietnamese athletes with a simple, yet trendy fashion sense.

After missing out on a gold medal at SEA Games 33, the Hanoi shooter stated she would strive to train and improve herself to aim for the Olympic qualifiers and ASIAD 2026.

Thanh Thao's dream is to follow in the footsteps of her idol Hoang Xuan Vinh, leaving her mark on the Olympic stage.
