"As soon as they return after three days off, I will check", Guardiola told Sports Mail on 22/12. "They can eat, but I must control it. I have to pick the squad for the match against Nottingham Forest on 27/12. Imagine a player who is perfect but gains three kilos. He will stay in Manchester and not go to Nottingham."

According to Guardiola, even small differences can decide a match. Therefore, he pays close attention to the players' physical condition after the holiday period. Beyond physical fitness, Guardiola also wants players to perform well according to tactical intentions. These factors have been the foundation for his consistent success during nearly 20 years as a coach.
"One of the strengths of the teams I have managed, starting from Barca B, is running like an animal. But that alone is not enough; we also have to play better than the opponent", Guardiola stated.
Guardiola's warning about player fitness comes amidst a circulating clip showing Erling Haaland, who has scored 149 goals for Man City over the past two years, eating grilled meat in the changing room after the 3-0 victory over West Ham on 20/12. Some fans joked that the Spanish coach was waiting to re-check his star player's weight.
Guardiola began his coaching career at Barca B in 2007, winning the Spanish Fourth Division in his first season. After taking charge of the Barca first team in 2008, Guardiola immediately rose to the ranks of top coaches, winning 14 titles in four years, including two Champions League titles and three consecutive La Liga titles.
In 2013, Guardiola moved to Bayern and won 7 titles. In 2016, he transitioned to Man City, securing 18 titles, including one Champions League and 6 Premier League titles. With 40 titles, Guardiola stands as the second most successful coach in football history. Alex Ferguson, former coach of Man Utd, remains at the top with 49 titles.
