At PVF Stadium in Hung Yen, Coach Cristiano Roland's team completely dominated their Southeast Asian opponent. In the 3rd minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty after Ayden Syaifullah fouled Le Trong Dai Nhan in the box. From the 11-meter spot, Nhan deceived goalkeeper Ilhan Rezal with a shot down the middle to open the scoring.
In the 25th minute, Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc lofted the ball from midfield behind Singapore's defense to Le Sy Bach. The 2009-born forward's initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but he quickly controlled the rebound, dribbled past him, and slotted into an empty net to double the lead. The third goal came in the 38th minute, with Nguyen Minh Thuy dribbling past two defenders before firing into the top corner of the visitors' net.

In the second half, Minh Thuy took a free kick from the right byline, finding Nguyen Luc who scored with a one-touch shot to make it 4-0. Substitute Tran Manh Quan then completed a brace in the 68th and 89th minutes, with the first goal coming from a controversial penalty. Farrel Farhan appeared to clear the ball first, but the referee deemed he had fouled Tran Hoang Viet.
Despite the dominant opening win, Vietnam sits second in Group C behind Malaysia. In a concurrent match, Malaysia defeated Northern Mariana Islands 13-0, while Hong Kong beat Macau 2-0.
The second round of matches will take place on 24/11. Vietnam has an opportunity to extend their lead against the weaker Northern Mariana Islands team. Meanwhile, Malaysia will play Hong Kong, and Singapore will face Macau. With a demanding schedule of a match every two days, the coaching staff must manage player stamina to achieve their goal of a perfect record.
The AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers run from 22/11 to 30/11. 38 national teams are divided into seven groups, hosted in Vietnam, Thailand, China, India, Myanmar, and Kyrgyzstan. Teams will play a single round-robin format, with the seven group winners advancing.
The finals will be held in Saudi Arabia from 7/5 to 24/5/2026. Nine teams have already secured direct qualification: hosts Saudi Arabia, along with the eight quarter-finalists from the 2025 tournament: Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, Qatar, South Korea, Tajikistan, UAE, and Uzbekistan.
The AFC U17 Asian Cup finals and the U17 World Cup will be held annually during the 2025-2029 period. Qatar will host all five editions of the U17 World Cup.
