Vietnamese audiences to watch FIFA ASEAN Cup live

FPT Play television channel announced it acquired broadcast rights for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 in Vietnam.

FPT Play announced on the afternoon of 26/9 that it will broadcast all matches of the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 live and in full. Viewers can access the games across FPT Play's platforms, including TV, mobile devices, FPT Play Box, and its website fptplay.vn.

FPT Play also agreed to grant free non-commercial screening rights for the tournament's matches to interested entities and organizations. Public screening activities must adhere to specific conditions: they must be non-commercial, feature no external advertisements, accommodate fewer than 5,000 people, and utilize a legal signal source.

The FIFA ASEAN Cup was established following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ASEAN Council and FIFA in Malaysia in 10/2025. This agreement took place during the 47th ASEAN Summit.

The tournament will be held during the newly extended FIFA Days window, effective from 2026. Under this new structure, national team gatherings in September and October will merge into a single, three-week period, from 21/9 to 6/10. This format is expected to enhance the tournament's appeal, as national teams will gather their strongest lineups.

In Division One, Group A comprises: Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore. Group B features: Vietnam, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Division One matches will take place in Indonesia, utilizing Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (77,193 seats) and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (27,000 seats). Division Two will be hosted in Hong Kong, with games at Kai Tak Stadium (50,000 seats) and Mong Kok Stadium (6,664 seats).

Teams will compete in a single round-robin format, with points determining standings. In each division, the top team from each group will advance to the final. Specifically for Division One, the two second-place teams will play for third place.

Beyond this tournament, FPT Play holds broadcast rights for several other major football competitions, including the Premier League 2026-2027 and the ASEAN Club Championship 2026-2027. The platform also features other sports such as VBA, NBA, UFC, Pickleball World Cup, and the PPA Tour Asia.
