Scoring in his fifth consecutive match for Barca, the Spanish forward achieved the best personal performance streak of his career. Previously, he had scored in victories against Oviedo (3-0), Elche (3-1) in La Liga, Copenhagen (4-1) in the Champions League, and Albacete (2-1) in the King's Cup quarterfinals. Yamal also increased his La Liga 2025-2026 goal tally to 10, marking his first double-digit achievement in a single season.

For this match, coach Hansi Flick rested Raphinha, Frenkie De Jong, and Ferran Torres, or had them start from the bench. This decision was reportedly made to prepare for the first leg of the King's Cup semi-final, an away match against Atletico on 12/2.

Rashford started well, replacing Raphinha on the left wing. In the 26th minute, the English forward shot from 25 meters, narrowly missing the post. Three minutes later, his subsequent long-range shot led to the opening goal. Robert Lewandowski capitalized on a rebound from a Mallorca defender, then struck the ball into Leo Roman's net.

Dissatisfied with only one goal in the first half, Barca increased their tempo after the break. Yamal's wonder goal was the result of this effort.

Not long after, Yamal was substituted. However, Barca continued to attack and create many opportunities. In the 83rd minute, after breaking into the penalty area, midfielder Marc Bernal scored a low shot to seal the 3-0 victory. The ball deflected off a visiting defender before entering the net.

Mallorca managed little beyond a few counter-attacks. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia easily dealt with them, securing a clean sheet for the home team.
