Several sections of national route 1 through Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Hue city are proposed for expansion from two to four lanes, with a total capital of nearly 10,000 billion VND, aiming to reduce congestion and increase transport capacity on the North-South axis.

On the morning of 19/5, Hanoi broke ground on a project to expand national route 1 from ring road 1 to Cau Gie interchange, spanning over 36 km with 16 lanes and a total investment of nearly 162,000 billion VND.
