5 Hanoi bun cha restaurants recommended by Michelin experts

Bun Cha Ta, Bun Cha Chan, and Bun Cha Dac Kim are among the establishments mentioned in the 2025 Michelin Guide.

Hanoi's bun cha gained international attention in 2016 when then-US President Barack Obama dined with the late chef Anthony Bourdain at Bun Cha Huong Lien during his official visit to Vietnam.

Here are 5 establishments highly regarded by Michelin Guide experts in 2025.

Bun Cha Ta

According to Michelin Guide food experts, Bun Cha Ta is popular for its fried spring rolls and grilled meat. The traditional bun cha features sweet and sour fish sauce served with tender, fragrant grilled pork and vermicelli noodles. Michelin recommends trying the uniquely flavored seafood and crab spring rolls. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian version with vermicelli noodles, fried tofu, and vegetarian spring rolls.

Address: Nguyen Huu Huan Street, Hoan Kiem District (Bib Gourmand designation for good food at a moderate price).

Bun Cha Dac Kim

According to the Michelin Guide, what sets this restaurant apart is its meticulous selection of pork. The meat used in Bun Cha Dac Kim's dish is shoulder and belly, thinly sliced and grilled over charcoal after being marinated for optimal flavor absorption. The sweet and sour dipping fish sauce, served with garlic, chili, and thinly sliced papaya, is praised by diners for "enhancing the flavor of each bite."

Address: Hang Manh Street, Hoan Kiem District (Michelin selected).

Bun Cha Lien Huong

This restaurant is famous not only for its delicious food but also for President Barack Obama's visit in 2016. However, even before Obama's visit, it had been a popular destination for Hanoi residents for over two decades. In addition to the vermicelli noodles with grilled meat, the restaurant also serves seafood spring rolls, sea crab, and grilled skewers.

Address: Le Van Huu Street, Cua Nam District (Michelin selected).

Tuyet Bun Cha 34

Michelin Guide experts praise this restaurant for its white vermicelli noodles served with charcoal-grilled meat, prepared fresh upon ordering. Diners dip the noodles into a rich broth. Many also order crispy fried spring rolls for added flavor.

Address: Hang Than Street, Ba Dinh District (Bib Gourmand).

Bun Cha Chan

A variation on traditional bun cha, Bun Cha Chan attracts customers with its dipping sauce made from fragrant, hot bone broth. The sweet, savory broth, combined with the grilled meat, offers diners a unique experience.

Address: Mai Hac De Street (Bib Gourmand).
