Multi-day ticket models at global entertainment parks

Multi-day tickets, popular at international parks, are now offered by Sun World Ba Na Hills, allowing guests three consecutive days of cable car access to optimize costs and experiences.

In the global entertainment industry, the limitations of one-day tickets are becoming evident as theme parks expand. At large entertainment complexes, 24 hours is insufficient for visitors to fully explore all zones, art shows, and games.

Family Travel Magazine suggests three days is a reasonable time for families to fully enjoy Disneyland without time pressure. Similarly, Travel + Leisure recommends visitors spend at least three days at Universal Orlando instead of rushing to experience everything in one day.

Strategically, McKinsey consulting notes modern tourists prioritize "in-depth experiences." Instead of visiting many places briefly, they extend stays at one destination for thorough exploration. This boosts demand for multi-day tickets, allowing visitors to manage their schedules and enjoy services at their own pace. The Theme Park Ticketing Market Research Report 2023 also highlights that entertainment complexes are increasing investment in seasonal events and unique products, raising demand for flexible, long-term tickets across all guest groups, from families to adventurers.

Economically, multi-day tickets offer dual benefits for operators and visitors. At Disneyland Resort (US), a three-day ticket package costs between 425-500 USD (approximately 10,5-12,5 million VND); at Universal Orlando Resort, this price exceeds 400 USD (around 10 million VND). Although the total cost is higher than single tickets, visitors prefer them due to significantly lower per-day value and the opportunity for a thorough experience rather than a superficial visit.

Learning from this model, from 1/1, the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area in Da Nang implemented a three-day consecutive cable car ticket policy. Visitors can use the cable car unlimited times within 72 hours of first use. A key difference from global models is the pricing: while international parks typically increase ticket prices progressively with more days (even if the daily unit price decreases), Ba Na Hills offers a three-day experience for the cost of a one-day ticket.

Owning a three-day ticket offers a distinct advantage given Ba Na peak's frequently changing weather. The climate here can shift rapidly within a day, with dense fog in the morning and clear sunshine in the afternoon, or vice versa. Not being forced to complete a visit in one day allows visitors to flexibly adjust plans: choosing a foggy day to enjoy the cool air, or returning on a sunny day to admire views and take photos at the Golden Bridge or flower gardens.

Visitors have ample time to experience everything from the indoor entertainment area, Fantasy Park, the mountain train, Moon Castle, Sun God Waterfall, to Eclipse Square. With a 72-hour timeframe, the pressure of continuous movement is removed, making way for more relaxed leisure and entertainment.

A representative stated that Sun World Ba Na Hills' introduction of the three-day ticket is not merely a short-term stimulus. It reflects a shift in tourism philosophy: from maximizing daily visitor numbers to optimizing the value of their stay. This approach is expected to distribute visitors more evenly, avoid overcrowding during peak hours, and enhance service quality and visitor satisfaction in Da Nang.
