Nearly 4 million visitors flock to Vietnam Exhibition Center

The "80 years of independence - freedom - happiness" exhibition at the 260,000m2 Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) welcomed nearly 4 million visitors during its first 6 days.

The exhibition, which began on 28/8, features both indoor and outdoor areas. From the opening day, the exhibition attracted large crowds. The peak day was 1/9 with over one million visitors.

Large aircraft models and modern weaponry drew long lines of people eager to experience, explore, and take photos. The modern exhibition space, incorporating technologies like AR/VR, 3D mapping, and immersive rooms, delighted visitors.

The most popular areas were the interactive technology exhibits, where visitors could interact and chat with 100% Vietnamese-made humanoid robots from VinMotion, admire the Lac Hong 900 LX bulletproof electric vehicle designed for dignitaries, experience an A320 flight simulator, or try simulated shooting.

Throughout the exhibition, the red and gold of the national flag and military uniforms filled VEC. Veterans and visitors wearing clothes with the national flag and carrying flags created a vibrant, festive atmosphere during the independence day holiday.

VEC also welcomed high-ranking delegations, including leaders of the Vietnamese Communist Party, State, and Government, along with international delegations from countries like Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, and global MICE partners.

Tran Van Nghia, from Hanoi, brought his children and family to the exhibition. He described being overwhelmed by the vast space, comparing it to a rare and expansive experience park.

"This could be called a mega-exhibition. Each display area made it easy for us to learn about history and gain a deeper, more vivid understanding of the country's achievements and development," Nghia said.

According to a VEC representative, to accommodate the large number of visitors, the center offers diverse and comprehensive infrastructure: extensive parking for up to 10,000 vehicles, two free internal electric bus routes, 12 indoor and outdoor information counters, and 925 indoor and outdoor restrooms. Vingroup's professional operational standards and the support of 2,000 volunteers also contributed to a seamless visitor experience. Over the 6 days, the center operated smoothly with robust security and no waste accumulation.

Due to the event's popularity and widespread impact, the Prime Minister requested a 10-day extension, to 15/9. This allows more people to visit and experience the exhibition. In response, VEC is providing free space, operations, and services to all exhibitors.

Given the exhibition's unexpected success, many experts believe VEC is capable of hosting large-scale international events, placing Vietnam on the map of the world's leading exhibition cities.

"With strategic vision, synchronized infrastructure, and collaboration between the government and businesses, I believe Vietnam possesses a top 10 global exhibition facility, poised to become a leading international event center in the region and globally," said Ramona Fischer, a representative of GL Events, a leading international events company and the exhibition's organizing consultant.
