Nghe An sunflower field opens to visitors

The TH Group sunflower field in Nghia Lam commune is open for free public visits starting 16/12.

This year, TH Group planted sunflowers at field C10, located opposite dairy farms 1 and 3. The flowers are currently in full bloom and will remain beautiful past New Year's Day.

TH Group considers this an offering to people and visitors nationwide coming to Phu Quy (Nghia Lam commune). In addition to free entry, TH Group provides suitable services and ensures visitor safety.

The company has designated a free parking area with staff to guide vehicles. It also created dozens of check-in spots amidst the golden flower carpet. A large TH true mart store will operate on-site to serve visitors.

Ms. Luu Thi Thu Hien, Deputy General Director of THMF Company, a member of TH Group, shared that TH's sunflower field in Nghia Lam (formerly Nghia Dan) has been a beloved destination for visitors for many years.

"We welcome everyone with warmth and hospitality. We also hope visitors will help maintain general hygiene and the field's landscape so that future guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the flowers", she emphasized.

The sunflower fields in western Nghe An have long made the area a renowned tourist destination. This location also serves as the starting point for the inspiring story of TH true Milk's "from green grass to clean milk" closed-loop production process.

Beyond creating an ecological environment and beautiful landscape, these sunflower fields, along with other crops such as grass, corn, sorghum, and soybeans, provide essential roughage for the nearly 70,000 dairy cows within the USD 1.2 billion high-tech dairy farming and processing project.

According to agricultural engineers at TH farm, preparations for this year's sunflower field began with thorough soil work and planting in early October. The sunflower variety used has a short growth period, flowering in 60-70 days. Given the weather and soil conditions of the Phu Quy region, mature sunflower plants can reach heights of 1.5 to 2 meters, with flower diameters up to 30 cm, or even 40 cm. After approximately 90-100 days from planting, the heavy-seeded flowers are ready for harvest. Sunflower yields can reach 40-45 tons per hectare. After harvest, the plants are chopped, fermented, and transformed into a feed rich in protein, omega 3, and digestible fiber, boasting a protein content 6%-16% higher than corn and grass.

Ms. Vy Thi Thu Hang, Director of Feed and Nutrition at TH true Milk, explained that sunflowers, along with various grasses, corn, and sorghum, are ensiled and mixed with 10-16 other ingredients to create feed for dairy cows. Across a total area of 8,100 hectares, sunflowers, along with mombasa grass, corn, and sorghum, enable TH to achieve nearly complete self-sufficiency in roughage for its large dairy herd. Each day, about 2,000 tons of feed are mixed at the feed center and then transported to the barns.
