The demeanor of flight attendants can significantly impact a passenger's experience, making them feel either uneasy or at ease during a flight. Industry veterans suggest that how passengers interact with the crew can truly shape their journey.
Charity Moore, a US flight attendant with 11 years of experience, revealed that flight crews value small tokens of appreciation from passengers. These might include a modest gift bag with items like drink gift cards, hand sanitizer, lip balm, or snacks. Such gestures can sometimes lead to passengers receiving enhanced care, from additional snacks to more comfortable seating arrangements.
Moore noted that flight attendants typically spend 12-14 hours on an aircraft. While no one anticipates gifts from travelers, any display of thoughtfulness is always valued.

Rori Simon, a flight attendant for a major global airline, echoed the sentiment that a gift can lift a crew's spirits after a long day. However, she stressed that such gifts do not equate to special privileges like seat upgrades, as airlines forbid flight attendants from accepting bribes for favors.
Beyond offering gifts, passengers can foster goodwill by demonstrating politeness when requesting food or moving through the cabin. If assistance is needed, passengers should use verbal requests, gestures, or the call button rather than touching crew members.
Unwanted physical contact, such as patting or touching, causes discomfort. Repeated instances could lead to a flight attendant asking a passenger to deplane.
Flight attendants are responsible for passenger safety and service throughout the cabin. Therefore, respecting personal space and maintaining proper conduct are straightforward ways to ensure a more pleasant flight experience for everyone.
