This expanded partnership builds on previous collaborations, including the JW Marriott Phu Quoc, which has been operational since 2017. Additionally, projects under Luxury Collection, Ritz-Carlton, and Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Hon Thom have been signed and are expected to open soon. Expanding the brand portfolio demonstrates the comprehensive cooperation between the two groups, covering segments from mid-range to luxury and catering to diverse accommodation needs, from family vacations and young travelers to MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia-Pacific (excluding China), noted that Vietnam is a rapidly growing tourism market. The number of hotels managed by Marriott International in Vietnam has doubled since 2022. The agreement for 10 additional hotels with Sun Group underscores Marriott's long-term investment strategy in this market.
At the event, Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group, stated that integrating international brands into destination ecosystems will enhance Vietnam's tourism competitiveness. He added that brand diversity helps broaden the customer base, extend visitor stays, and increase spending.

Most projects under this agreement will be developed in Phu Quoc. The island is being developed as an integrated tourism model, combining resorts, entertainment, and comprehensive infrastructure. Sun Group has established a robust ecosystem there, including a three-wire oversea cable car, a theme park and water park complex, the Guinness World Record-holding multimedia show "Kiss of the Sea", Kiss Bridge, and Sunset Town, which features year-round fireworks displays.
The addition of Marriott International brands is expected to boost the capacity for large-scale guest reception, facilitate international event organization, and further develop MICE tourism, with an eye on hosting events like APEC 2027.

Concurrently, Sun Group is accelerating investment in connectivity infrastructure. This includes the launch of Sun Phu Quoc Airways, expanding its international flight network, and partnering with Changi Airports International to develop a "destination airport" model at Phu Quoc International Airport. These efforts aim to position Phu Quoc, often called "Pearl Island", as a new regional gateway.
With over 270 million Marriott Bonvoy members worldwide, Marriott International offers access to a broad base of international travelers. This synergy between Sun Group's destination ecosystems and Marriott's global brand network is expected to create new momentum for Phu Quoc and Vietnamese tourism overall.
