According to Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, the Hanoi - Hangzhou route is the next step in the airline's international network expansion strategy. "Amid a challenging market, especially with fluctuating fuel prices, launching the route earlier than planned, in Quarter IV, demonstrates our proactive approach and determination to expand international connections, stimulate trade and tourism, and contribute to the nation's economic growth," Trung stated.
As the capital of Zhejiang province, Hangzhou is famous for West Lake, Longjing tea, and cultural values reflecting the distinct identity of the Jiangnan region. Beyond its rich history, Hangzhou also serves as a hub for technology, e-commerce, and innovation, home to many large corporations. Situated in the Yangtze River Delta, the city's geographical location makes it convenient for tourists to plan itineraries exploring nearby cities like Shanghai.
Since the beginning of the year, the national airline has continuously expanded its operational scope. Vietnam Airlines launched new routes to Amsterdam (Netherlands), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Phuket (Thailand), and Ahmedabad (India). Additionally, the company has actively increased flight frequencies on many key routes to South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines, Russia, and Australia to meet market travel and trade demands.
