A woman testified at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London for the trial of 22-year-old Matvei Rumianstev. She stated that Barron Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump, saved her life, Metro reported on 21/1/2025.
Barron called UK police at 2h23 on 18/1/2025, after witnessing his friend being assaulted via FaceTime. In a recording of the call released in court, the caller informed the operator: "I just received a call from a female friend. She is being attacked."
After providing the woman's address, the caller emphasized: "This is an emergency, please. I received a call from her and saw a guy hitting her."

Body camera footage from officers arriving at the scene, also presented in court, showed police questioning the woman about whether Rumianstev had been live-streaming during the assault.
Officers told her that someone in the US had contacted them, but this person was not identified. Finally, she told them: "I am a friend of Barron Trump, son of Donald Trump."
Officers then asked the woman to call Barron back to confirm, and she asked: "Hello, Barron, did you call the police?" Barron Trump replied: "I asked someone to call the police."
He then told the officers: "She called me. I answered, thinking she would greet me. But I only saw the ceiling and heard screams. I could see a man's head on the phone, then the camera turned to her crying and being hit."
This scene lasted 10-15 seconds before the call ended. "I called you guys, this is the best I could do. I won't call back to threaten that guy because it would only make the situation worse," Barron said.
The woman stated that her call to Barron Trump was "a divine intervention." She told the jury that "he often calls me." She had missed "several calls" from him before the final call connected and led to him calling the police.
She claimed that the defendant, Rumianstev, a Russian national, was jealous of her friendship with Barron Trump. She and Rumianstev had a romantic relationship for about 6 months. During this period, she stated she was raped by him two times: once in 11/2024 and again just hours before police raided his apartment on 18/1/2025. Rumianstev also assaulted and choked her during arguments and pressured her to withdraw her complaint.
Sasha Wass KC, representing the defendant, argued that her client only wanted to restrain the woman after she displayed "angry and aggressive" behavior towards him that evening. She claimed the woman's testimony was "completely fabricated" and that her client never raped her.
"I did not fabricate that. To suggest I fabricated it is cruel and humiliating to those who have truly experienced such circumstances," the woman said.
Rumianstev, residing in east London, denied charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, rape, strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. The case is still ongoing.
