California birthday party shooting leaves four dead

A shooting at a family birthday party in California resulted in four deaths and ten injuries, with police yet to identify a suspect.

Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, announced on 29/11 that the shooting occurred at nearly 6 p.m. at an event hall in Stockton, where a child's birthday party was being held.

Police reported that 14 victims, including children, sustained gunshot wounds, and four of them died.

Information regarding the shooting remains limited, but officials believe the incident may have been a targeted act. Investigators are examining all possibilities but have not yet identified the shooter.

Police are also clarifying the circumstances that led to the tragedy and are urging the public to provide any information or videos.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization that tracks gun-related violence, a shooting is classified as a mass shooting when at least four people are injured or killed, excluding the attacker. Since the beginning of the year, the US has recorded 504 mass shootings.
