On 7/12, Greek media reported that storm Byron caused flooding at the 112th Combat Wing base in Elefsina. Despite efforts by soldiers to protect equipment, the base lacked water pumps. It remains unclear whether the Greek prime minister's special aircraft sustained damage.
Greek media indicated that this incident was not unexpected, attributing it to prolonged delays in infrastructure repair and upgrade projects.
The Greek Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the situation.

Storm Byron made landfall in Greece on 4/12, unleashing heavy rain and wind gusts up to 100 km/h in several regions. Flash floods transformed numerous streets into rivers, especially in the capital Athens and the Attica region, resulting in at least two fatalities.
This incident marks a recurring problem for the Greek military. In 2023, the Stefanovikio base near Volos experienced similar flooding after storm Daniel struck the country. Stefanovikio, one of Greece's largest airbases, houses approximately 100 helicopters, including modern Apache models.
At that time, the Greek military reported that most vehicles had been relocated to other sites and were safe. However, published images revealed at least three helicopters from the 1st Army Aviation Brigade partially submerged in water.
