French President Emmanuel Macron wore aviator sunglasses with blue tinted lenses on 29/6 while receiving Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq at the Elysee palace.
Macron wore the glasses not to protect his eyes from the harsh midday sun in Paris, but once again due to "an eye problem", according to the French president's staff.

He continued to wear the glasses throughout the signing ceremony held inside the presidential palace and when attending an event at a hotel as part of the France - Oman Business Forum with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
The French president also wore the glasses when he and his wife received King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn, Queen Suthida, and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana at the Elysee palace on the same day.
Macron's aviator glasses previously went viral at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January. At that time, the French president delivered a firm speech directed at US President Donald Trump, asserting that Europe needed to stand up against bullies and become stronger and more autonomous. The sunglasses became a symbol of a resolute European president facing pressure from the US.

Following the Davos event, demand for the Henry Jullien brand's glasses was so high that it crashed the French eyewear manufacturer's website. A wine producer even launched a rose wine with a label featuring the aviator glasses, a tie, and the phrase "For Sure" – Macron's notable remark at the forum.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the time also supported Macron by posting a Top Gun-inspired poster image, featuring himself and Macron in fighter pilot attire.
