The bronze statue was created by Ram V. Sutar, one of India's leading sculptors, following multiple rounds of consultations and adjustments with relevant Vietnamese agencies.
The statue is positioned to face towards Vietnam's two major cities: the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Earlier, General Secretary and President To Lam also laid a commemorative wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial in New Delhi. Mahatma Gandhi was a renowned political activist, honored as the Father of the Nation and the spiritual leader of the Indian people.
"I and the high-level Vietnamese delegation are deeply moved and respectfully remember Mahatma Gandhi, the great leader, a symbol of peace, national independence, and the spirit of non-violence. His life and career will forever be a shining example during the years of struggle for national independence in Asia and worldwide", the General Secretary and President wrote in the guestbook.
The Vietnamese leader affirmed that Mahatma Gandhi's ideology and will would always be an endless source of inspiration for the spirit of self-reliance for the people of India, Vietnam, and the world.

The General Secretary and President is on a state visit to India from 5-7/5. This marks the first time the General Secretary and President has visited India in his new capacity, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
