During his meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State Michael DeSombre on 13/2 in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam commended the US Department of State's role in fostering the positive development of Vietnam-US relations recently, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the United States one of its top important partners. Vietnam is ready to enhance extensive cooperation across various fields, for the benefit of the people of both nations, actively contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and globally.

General Secretary To Lam reiterated Vietnam's commitment to consistently pursuing an independent, self-reliant, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developmental foreign policy. This includes multilateralizing and diversifying external relations, acting as a responsible member, and actively contributing to regional and international issues.

Assistant Secretary of State DeSombre conveyed that President Donald Trump highly appreciates General Secretary To Lam's acceptance to participate in the Gaza Peace Council initiative.

DeSombre affirmed that the United States values its comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, supporting a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam. The US also seeks to enhance strategic cooperation with Vietnam in both bilateral relations and regional and international matters.

The US Assistant Secretary of State expressed gratitude and appreciation for the outcomes of his working sessions with Vietnamese agencies, ministries, and sectors during his visit. He affirmed his continued commitment to promoting substantive development in Vietnam-US relations in the coming period.
