The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran was targeted in a US-Israeli military operation the previous day, Tasnim news agency reported today.
A video released by Iran International television channel and verified by CNN showed a research center at the Iran University of Science and Technology sustaining an airstrike. The building appeared destroyed, with twisted metal and rubble scattered. A nearby building was also on fire.
Images posted on social media later showed columns of smoke rising from the rubble. Windows of an adjacent building also appeared damaged.
The Iran University of Science and Technology confirmed damage to its facilities but reported no casualties. University officials condemned the attack, stating that targeting academic institutions violates international law.
"If the US wants its universities in the Middle East to avoid retaliation, it must condemn the attack on Iran's university before 12:00 on 30/3 Tehran time," the IRGC statement read. The force also advised faculty, staff, and students of US universities in the Middle East, along with nearby residents, to "stay one kilometer away from campuses."
US and Israeli officials have not commented on the information.
