On 6/3 in New York, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, declared that Iran, as an independent and sovereign nation, "does not accept and will never allow any foreign power to interfere in our internal affairs."
He affirmed that the leader selection process would strictly adhere to constitutional procedures, reflecting solely the will of the Iranian people, free from any foreign interference.

Ambassador Iravani criticized President Donald Trump's comments, stating they "clearly violated the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, a principle enshrined in the United Nations Charter."
The Iranian official also asserted Tehran's retaliation against attacks by Washington and Tel Aviv was legitimate and proportionate. Additionally, Iranian authorities are investigating allegations of their forces striking non-military locations.
"Our initial assessment indicates some incidents may have resulted from interception or interference by US defense systems, deflecting weapons from their intended military targets," he stated.
This statement came one day after President Trump asserted Iran was "wasting time" in its process to elect a supreme leader, replacing Ali Khamenei, who died in a US and Israel-led attack last weekend.
Trump further declared his essential involvement in selecting Iran's new supreme leader, opposing the late leader Khamenei's son from assuming power.
