Israel's prime minister reveals past cancer diagnosis

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and has been successfully treated.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 76, announced on X on 24/4 that his annual medical report was released. He explained the publication had been delayed for two months "to avoid the peak of the war, preventing Iran from spreading more disinformation against Israel."

Netanyahu stated that a year and a half ago, he underwent successful surgery for benign prostate enlargement. During his most recent medical check-up, doctors "discovered a spot under 1 cm" in his prostate.

"It was a malignant tumor at an early stage, which had not spread or metastasized," Netanyahu continued. He then received "targeted therapy" to address the issue and currently shows no signs of the disease.

Prostate cancer is a malignant condition common in men, particularly those over 50. Early detection allows for effective treatment through endoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, or hormone therapy.

Former US President Joe Biden was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in 5/2025, which had metastasized to the bones. He later announced his treatment plan, expressing hope to overcome the illness.
