The US Department of Justice announced on 1/4 that Andrew Emerald, 45, wrote 8 social media messages last year, threatening to injure and kill president Donald Trump.
"Either Trump dies and is buried before 2026 or I will hunt him down and put him there", Emerald wrote in a post in 5/2025.

That same month, the man continued to post vulgar messages, threatening to attack the US president's resort in Florida. "I guarantee you will be at Mar-a-Lago when I burn it to ashes", Emerald wrote.
According to court documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), when authorities executed an arrest warrant at Emerald's Massachusetts home, he refused to come out, brandished a long metal sword, and challenged agents to shoot him. In an earlier Facebook post, Emerald wrote that he would go to Washington with his sword and kill Mr. Trump.

Emerald eventually left the house after a local police officer and a negotiator persuaded him.
Authorities arrested Emerald after he was indicted on 19/3 on 8 counts of transmitting threatening information, potentially facing up to 5 years in prison, three years of probation, and a 250,000 USD fine if convicted.
In 2018, during president Trump's first term, Emerald was also questioned by authorities for threats targeting him.
US authorities have handled numerous cases of individuals posting threats against the White House occupant on social media platforms. In march, a man in Virginia was sentenced to over two years in prison for threatening to kill Mr. Trump.
