US President Donald Trump arrived in Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum on 21/1, where he was seen using a heavy-duty armored Cadillac Escalade. This event potentially marks the first time Trump has traveled in this SUV model at a major global gathering.
The motorcade featured at least two Escalades alongside several Chevy Suburbans. This specific Escalade displayed substantial armor, particularly around its front windshield and doors. Its roof was equipped with an antenna array, with an additional antenna positioned in front of the driver's seat. Secret Service escort vehicles commonly integrate secure communication systems, linking them to White House communication vehicles. According to reporters from TWZ, observations of the presidential motorcade over the past few months suggest this marks the first instance of Trump utilizing this SUV model at a prominent global event.

Historically, since the early 2000s, the US Secret Service has routinely used Chevy Suburbans, alternating them with "The Beast" limousines, for presidential transport during official trips.
TWZ reports that while the body designs of the Escalade and Suburban vary, the new model likely incorporates an enhanced Suburban chassis for a more luxurious aesthetic.
In 3/2025, the US Secret Service announced on social media platform X that Director Sean Curran had "met with leaders of automaker GM to discuss advancements beneficial for the next generation of armored SUVs". Images from Curran's visit revealed a new-generation Escalade, prominently displaying emblems of the Office of the US President.

Reuters reported in 3/2025 that GM secured a new contract from the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service to develop a next-generation presidential limousine. However, the report did not specify the base vehicle model or its operational timeline.
"It is too early to discuss specific costs or timelines," a Secret Service spokesperson stated then. The spokesperson added, "Our technical, protective operations, and technical security teams dedicate years to developing the most advanced standard framework used to produce these sophisticated vehicles." The agency further declared, "Addressing evolving threats necessitates continuous exploration, innovation, and enhancement of our armored protection fleet."
