The state visit by the Sultan of Brunei takes place from 30/11 to 2/12, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.
During a reception at the Central Party Headquarters on 30/11, General Secretary To Lam welcomed the Sultan's seventh visit to Vietnam. He expressed confidence that this visit would further strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the excellent development of the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership. Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 increased by 165% compared to 2023, surpassing the 500 million USD target set for 2025 ahead of schedule. Cooperation in areas such as defense-security, fisheries, oil and gas, and education has also yielded positive results.
The two sides agreed to strengthen political trust, promote trade and investment activities, enhance connectivity, and support businesses in information exchange and partner seeking. They also committed to effectively leveraging cooperation potential in various areas, including: agriculture, fisheries, Halal, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam and Brunei established diplomatic relations on 29/2/1992, upgrading to a Comprehensive Partnership in 3/2019. Brunei currently ranks 28th among countries investing in Vietnam, with 153 active projects.
