During his trip from 31/8 to 1/9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the SCO as a guest of the host country. He will also meet with Chinese leaders, ministries, sectors, and businesses to promote cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and major strategic infrastructure development projects, according to TTXVN.
Accompanying the prime minister are Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, National Assembly Vice Chairman Vu Hong Thanh, along with leaders and representatives from the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Science and Technology.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized the high expectations for the prime minister's trip, aiming to guide the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and China. The prime minister's attendance at the summit demonstrates that SCO countries value Vietnam's role and position and want to hear Vietnam's perspective on regional and global security, political, and development issues.

The 2025 SCO Summit, held in Tianjin, is expected to be attended by more than 20 leaders from various countries, including 10 official SCO members such as General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as observer states, dialogue partners, and some countries attending as guests of the host country, along with leaders of several international organizations.
The SCO, established in 2001 in Shanghai, is a Eurasian political, economic, and security organization. The six original members were Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined the SCO in 2017, Iran in 2023, and Belarus in 2024.
China was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on 18/1/1950. The two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2008. In 2023, the two countries issued a joint statement on promoting the building of a Community of Shared Future with strategic significance.
In 2024, Vietnam maintained its position as China's largest trading partner within ASEAN and fourth-largest overall.
