UK media reported on 26/8 that Prince Harry and Meghan, with their two children Archie and Lilibet, flew by private jet from California, United States, to the UK, landing at Birmingham Airport. According to informed sources, the family plans to reside in the UK "for a long period" at a non-royal home in the Cotswolds, a region in central England. Archie and Lilibet reportedly enrolled in a private school in the area, with the new academic year starting in september. However, sources added that Prince Harry and Meghan are retaining their former residence in California, United States.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator, described Prince Harry and Meghan's move as a "special development." Fitzwilliams commented, "Honestly, my initial thought is that they were not successful in the United States. Essentially, they failed to become A-list Hollywood stars."
After announcing their departure from the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan moved to North America in 2020. Conflicts between the couple and the British royal family intensified as they repeatedly disclosed family secrets to the public, including during an interview with television host Oprah Winfrey and through the publication of the memoir Spare.

In the memoir published in 2023, Prince Harry discussed disagreements with family members. He recounted being physically assaulted by his brother during an argument about Meghan. Prince William criticized Meghan as "difficult, rude, arrogant, aggressive," which angered Prince Harry, who accused Prince William of echoing press narratives about her.
Last year, Prince Harry expressed a desire to reconcile with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment. In july, Prince Harry and Meghan, along with their children, made a short visit to the UK. They had a private meeting with King Charles, marking the first time he had met Prince Harry's children in four years.
