Officials in North Carolina reported a shooting in Concord, about 30 km northeast of Charlotte, during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on the evening of 21/11.
The Concord Police Department identified three suspects in the shooting: Nasir Ahmad Bostic, 18, Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic, 17, and an unnamed juvenile accomplice.
Nasir and the juvenile suspect sustained injuries in the shooting and received hospital treatment. Keyvyonn was uninjured and arrested immediately after the incident.
Police charged the suspects with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inciting a riot. The two injured victims are both 17 years old, with one in critical condition. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Local officials stated that Concord police are reviewing videos of the incident and interviewing witnesses. Police also requested that anyone with videos or photos of the event share them with authorities.
The shooting occurred as a large crowd gathered for the city's 28th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, leading to chaotic scenes. It is currently uncertain whether Concord's Christmas parade will proceed as planned following the shooting.
"We pray for the safety of our brave law enforcement officers, first responders, and for everyone present at the scene", North Carolina Representative Mark Harris posted on social media X.
