An armed group stormed a football field on 25/1 in Salamanca town, Guanajuato state, after a sports event. They opened fire indiscriminately on those remaining, creating a chaotic scene.
"Ten people died at the scene and one person succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Additionally, 12 people were wounded by gunfire and are receiving treatment," the Guanajuato state attorney general's office stated.

Forensic experts collected over 100 shell casings from various firearms at the scene, indicating the brutality of the suspects.
Local authorities launched a large-scale operation to search for the gunmen but have not released information about the suspects.
Four bags containing human remains were also found in Salamanca the day before.
Guanajuato state is a thriving industrial hub with popular tourist attractions. However, it also records the highest number of deaths in Mexico due to territorial battles between gangs.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated earlier this month that the country's homicide rate in 2025 had fallen to its lowest level in a decade, attributing the decrease to her administration's national security strategy.
