Around 11 p.m. on 3/8, Los Angeles police encountered a man carrying a gun entering a warehouse on 14th Place, where a large party was underway. The man was apprehended, and the crowd was dispersed before police left the scene.
However, at 1 a.m. on 4/8, police received reports of gunfire at the warehouse. Upon returning, they discovered multiple gunshot victims. A party attendee reported hearing at least 100 shots fired, causing panic and a stampede as people fled the warehouse.
One man in his 20s died at the scene, while seven others were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. One of the injured later died.
"This is a senseless act of violence, and those responsible will be held accountable," said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. "This city will not tolerate violence." Information about the suspect and motive has not been released.

Los Angeles media, citing law enforcement sources, reported the party was part of a local gang's "neighborhood day" celebration. Police recovered at least six firearms at the scene.
Unauthorized parties and gang activity are an ongoing problem in many areas of Los Angeles. On 2/8 alone, authorities reported 11 such parties.
"These parties are no good; there are no safety protocols, and they often involve violence, illegal drug use, and prostitution," said local official Anthony Rodriguez.
The shooting follows a tragedy in Montana on 1/8, where a veteran shot and killed at least four people in a bar in Anaconda. US police are searching for the veteran but have not yet located him.
