"I saw the US president declare before the United Nations General Assembly, 'I want peace, I will solve this conflict'. Who can win the Nobel Peace Prize? That prize can only be achieved if this conflict ends," French President Emmanuel Macron said, referring to the Gaza conflict.
According to Macron, the only person who can currently pressure the Israeli government to stop the war in Gaza and rescue the hostages held by Hamas is US President Donald Trump.

President Macron acknowledged that even after the French government recognized the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly, the US holds the real leverage over Israel. He added that the State of Palestine will only truly be established with recognition from Israel.
Regarding concerns that Israel might retaliate against France's move with measures like closing the French consulate in Jerusalem or annexing more territory in the West Bank, Macron declared that Paris is prepared for that scenario.
"We have planned for all options, meaning we are never passive. We will always protect French interests," Macron said.
The US president has previously complained that he would not be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, as his contributions to international agreements have not been recognized. The Trump administration stated that during his two terms, Trump helped end 6 conflicts.
