US President Donald Trump on 3/8 criticized Iran's leadership as "unbelievably dishonest" for proposing negotiations with the US, only to later reverse course and declare they would only discuss the Strait of Hormuz with Oman.

"Negotiations had begun, and many other meetings were scheduled in the near future, yet they publicly and proudly announced that they were not negotiating at all, that nothing was being discussed," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added that Iran continues to issue statements claiming they will manage the Strait of Hormuz, while in reality, the area is "under the complete control of the US Navy and a blockade, or as some call it, 'America's steel wall'."

According to him, when the US Navy enforces this maritime blockade, shipments will not be able to reach Iran unless the US permits it. "Nothing will get through unless they reach a deal or surrender completely," the US President stated.

"Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are in fact discussing a solution to a problem they have caused for decades. Quite simply, Iran will never possess nuclear weapons!" he continued.

The lengthy post revealed Trump's angry mood as US-Iran talks to end the conflict appear to remain stalled.

The President previously stated that a new round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran was about to begin, asserting there would be an agreement on Hormuz and Iran's nuclear issue. However, Iran immediately denied reports of negotiating with the US, contradicting Trump's statements.

"Our negotiations are with Oman to ensure transit rights through the Strait of Hormuz," said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei at a weekly press conference on 3/8. He added that Iran and Oman had discussed the matter "over the past 7-8 days," focusing on establishing a temporary safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and both sides had made some progress.

On the evening of 1/8, President Trump announced that the US military was "ready to fire" to prepare for an unprecedented attack on Iran, but added that Tehran and some parties in the Middle East had asked Washington to postpone the attack to allow more time to reach a "complete agreement."

Iranian media on 2/8 again rejected Trump's statements, asserting that it was the US President who needed to back down.
