"I don't know. I'm not interested in it anymore," US President Donald Trump said on 12/3 when asked about the Nobel Peace Prize. He added that he had not mentioned the topic in recent conversations with foreign leaders, and stated he did not know if the US and Israel's offensive campaign against Iran would help him gain enough support from members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to win the prize.
Trump previously expressed a desire to receive the award. The recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who presented the award to Trump during a meeting at the White House earlier this year.

A few months after the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the 2025 Nobel Prize winner, Trump asserted he was not obligated to "only think about peace." In a January social media post, he claimed to have "single-handedly" ended 8 wars. However, he lamented that "Norway, a NATO member, foolishly did not award me the Nobel Peace Prize." He concluded: "But it doesn't matter! What matters is that I saved millions of lives."
This year's Nobel Peace Prize nominations closed on 31/1. At that time, Trump had just ordered a raid on Caracas to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, but the offensive against Iran had not yet begun.
The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has now entered its 14th day, showing no signs of de-escalation, with increasing casualties and costs for all sides. Over 2,000 people have died in the clashes, primarily in Iran.
On 13/3, Trump issued new, aggressive threats, declaring that the US was "completely destroying the regime in Iran." He posted on Truth Social: "Iran's navy has been wiped out, their air force is also gone, missiles, drones, and everything else are being destroyed. Their leaders are being swept off the face of the Earth. We have unparalleled firepower, almost unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time. Let's see what happens to the evil lunatics today."
