Iranian news agencies Fars News and Nournews today confirmed that Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, wife of the late supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, is still alive.
Iranian media had previously reported Bagherzadeh died from severe injuries sustained in the 28/2 attack by the US and Israel. "The wife of the martyred leader is still alive. Initial reports were inaccurate," said Nournews, a news agency affiliated with Iran's Security Council.
The two news agencies did not provide further details about her condition.

The announcement came on the same day new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Khamenei, delivered his first message after taking office.
In a speech a few hours earlier, Mojtaba said he personally saw his father's body after the airstrike, confirming that several family members were killed, including his wife, sister, brother-in-law, and niece, but did not mention his mother.
"I had the honor of seeing my father's body after his martyrdom. He was a 'mountain' of steadfastness," Mojtaba said.
Bagherzadeh, 79 years old, married Khamenei in 1964. She was quite private in public and rarely expressed political stances.

Mojtaba Khamenei, 56 years old, was elected as the next supreme leader on 8/3 to lead the country amidst conflict with the US and Israel. He is the third supreme leader of Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Mojtaba's first message indicates Iran will likely continue to fight and maintain a firm stance rather than yielding to enemy pressure as the conflict approaches its two-week mark.
The fighting has so far killed about 2,000 people, mostly in Iran. It has also affected many regional countries and the global economy, as Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has halted the flow of oil and gas from the Persian Gulf to the world.
