US President Donald Trump's approval rating is currently 36%, according to a Gallup survey released on 28/11. This figure is one percentage point lower than in July and marks his lowest approval since January.
Trump's lowest approval rating previously recorded by Gallup was 34%, following the Capitol Hill riot on 6/1/2021 during his first term.
In the recent survey, 60% of respondents disapproved of Trump's performance as head of state since his return to the White House in January.
While most Democratic voters disapproved of his leadership, the president's approval also decreased among Republican and independent voters. Since late October, Republican voter support dropped 7 percentage points to 84%, and independent voters stood at 25%, an 8-percentage-point decrease from October.

President Trump received his highest approval rating of 43% for his handling of crime. 41% approved of his handling of foreign affairs, and 39% supported his trade agenda, according to the poll results.
The president's approval ratings for immigration and the economy were also low, at 37% and 36% respectively. Healthcare policy saw the lowest approval at 30%.
"Each current figure is similar to previous surveys, but there has been a significant decline in approval since February for the president's handling of immigration (down 9 points), the Middle East situation (down 7 points), and the economy (down 6 points). Since March, Trump's approval has seen double-digit drops concerning the federal budget (12 points) and the situation in Ukraine (10 points)", Gallup researchers stated.
Regarding his handling of Israel's war in Gaza, Trump received 33% approval. His approval rating for his response to the war between Russia and Ukraine was 31%.
"The longest government shutdown in history, the Republican Party's failures in some local elections, and persistent concerns about the cost of living appear to have damaged Trump's standing with the American public in November, especially among Republican and independent voters", Gallup observed.
Rising prices were a prominent issue in the local elections on 5/11, as many Democratic candidates won gubernatorial and mayoral races.
The Gallup survey was conducted from 3-25/11 with 1,321 adults. The firm noted that the impact of the Republican Party's failures in the 2025 elections and Trump's declining approval rating "could be a sign of instability for the Republican Party in next year's midterm congressional elections".
