On 30/6, the roof of a private tutoring center in Lahore, Punjab province, collapsed during classes. Most of the students were under 9 years old. Rescue teams pulled several students and a 30-year-old female teacher from the debris.
According to Azma Bokhari, Punjab's Information Minister, initial investigations revealed the tutoring center operated without a license. It was housed in a building with a severely dilapidated roof.
These types of tutoring centers are common in Pakistan, as many students attend supplementary classes after school.
"If negligence, irresponsibility, or legal violations are identified, those involved will face strict accountability," Bokhari stated.

A witness reported that workers were repairing roof tiles when the structure suddenly collapsed, with students studying directly below.
Images broadcast by Geo News showed rescue workers and residents using shovels and bare hands to dig through the brick and stone rubble in search of survivors.
Local officials pledged a comprehensive investigation. Punjab provincial police confirmed two arrests in connection with the incident, stating that evidence is being collected at the scene.
Lahore City Commissioner Marryam Khan affirmed that all responsible individuals would be held accountable, pledging a "transparent, objective, and urgent" investigation.
Building and roof collapses are common in Pakistan, often attributed to lax construction safety standards and the use of substandard materials. In 7/2025, a 5-story building in Karachi's Lyari area collapsed, killing 27 and injuring 10.
