"The Air Force will adopt a new approach to using its air defense network, focusing on mobile fire groups, interceptor drones, and other short-range air defense assets," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on 19/1.

"The system will undergo a complete overhaul," he said, adding that a new Deputy Air Force Commander has been appointed to directly lead and oversee this transformation.
President Zelensky called on the Ukrainian people to maintain high vigilance. "Russia has prepared for a large-scale attack and is awaiting the right moment to execute it," he stated, urging authorities in all regions across the country "to be ready to respond as quickly as possible and support the population."
Both President Zelensky and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated last weekend that Ukrainian intelligence detected Russia targeting specific objectives, particularly substations supplying power to the country's nuclear power plants.
Mr. Zelensky also announced that he instructed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko this week to take action to address difficulties following recent Russian attacks, including providing bonuses for tens of thousands of rescue workers striving to restore heating and power grids.
Ukraine is currently still grappling with the aftermath of Russian attacks from earlier this month, which left thousands of apartment buildings without power and heating, particularly in the capital, Kyiv.
President Zelensky has consistently urged Western allies to boost support to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
Ukraine rapidly developed its drone production system since the conflict with Russia escalated in 2022, emphasizing that interceptor drones are an effective and economical method for countering Moscow's attacks.
