An AFP reporter stated today that a convoy of dozens of trucks, carrying armored vehicles and prefabricated components, traveled on the road connecting the Qasrak base in Hasakeh province, Syria, to the Iraqi border area.
An anonymous Kurdish official confirmed that the US had begun withdrawing troops from the base controlled by Kurdish forces.
The Pentagon has not yet commented on this information.

Over the past two weeks, US forces also withdrew from two other bases: Al-Tanf in southeastern Syria and Shadadi in the northeast. Three sources told AFP that the US expects to complete its troop withdrawal from Syria within one month.
"The US will no longer have any military presence at these facilities", a Syrian government official stated.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were a primary partner allied with the US, playing a key role in recapturing areas controlled by IS.
However, after the government of former president Bashar al-Assad collapsed in 12/2024, the US moved closer to Syria's new government and recently declared it no longer needed an alliance with Kurdish forces. Syria agreed to join the US-led anti-IS coalition when interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa visited Washington in 11/2025.
