The US Department of State is preparing to release a limited edition passport specially designed for the country's 250th independence anniversary in July. This was announced by spokesperson Tommy Pigott on 28/4.
According to Pigott, this version will feature customized images and enhancements, while maintaining security features similar to the standard edition, "which makes US passports the safest documents in the world". The new passport version displays an image of President Donald Trump against the backdrop of the US Declaration of Independence, with his signature below. Another page shows a famous painting of the US founding fathers signing the country's Declaration of Independence, accompanied by a code.

A US Department of State official stated this design will be the default issued at the Washington Passport Agency while supplies last. Passports issued via online registration or other locations will retain the current design, which features historical events like the Moon landing or famous landmarks.
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said, "The patriotic new passport design offers another excellent way for Americans to participate in the grand celebration".
In related developments, the Federal Commission of Fine Arts on 19/3 voted to approve the issuance of a commemorative gold coin featuring Trump's image. Also in March, the US Treasury announced it would add Trump's signature to banknotes. This marks the first time a sitting president's signature has been printed on US banknotes; previously, only the signatures of the Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer of the United States appeared.
