"Vietnam is deeply concerned about the new US measure to impose additional tariffs on goods from countries supplying oil to Cuba, which will seriously impact Cuba's economic, social activities, and the lives of the Cuban people", said Pham Thu Hang, spokesperson for Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 2/2.
Vietnam reiterated its support for resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) over many years, calling on the US to immediately lift its unilateral blockade and embargo measures against Cuba and take steps towards dialogue to improve relations with Cuba.
"Once again, Vietnam strongly affirms its solidarity and traditional friendship with the fraternal Cuban people", the spokesperson emphasized.

The White House announced on 29/1 that it would impose additional tariffs on goods from countries directly or indirectly supplying any amount of oil to Cuba. The US did not specify the tariff rates or the list of affected countries.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez criticized this move, calling it "a cruel act of aggression against Cuba and its people, who are at risk of facing destitution."
