"Iran submitted its latest negotiation proposal to Pakistan, acting as an intermediary for peace talks with the US, on 30/4", Iran's IRNA news agency reported on 1/5, without disclosing the document's contents.
On the same day, Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, head of Iran's judiciary, affirmed that the country "has never shied away from negotiations" but would not accept impositions. "We do not want conflict in any form, we do not want war or to see it continue", Ejei stated.

Iran had previously proposed that the US postpone nuclear discussions, prioritizing instead the lifting of blockades on its seaports and a complete end to the conflict. However, President Trump rejected this approach.
According to Axios, US officials remain seriously concerned about Iran's nuclear program.
The US and Israel initiated an attack on Iran on 28/2. Fighting ceased following a ceasefire on 8/4, allowing Washington and Tehran to negotiate. Iran maintains tight control over the Strait of Hormuz, while the US imposed blockades on Iranian ports in retaliation.
The US military stated it prevented Iran from exporting USD 6 billion worth of oil. The Wall Street Journal reported on 30/4 that President Trump had instructed security officials to prepare for a blockade lasting several months.

Trump repeatedly criticized allies for not joining efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. A US official stated on 30/4 that the country is initiating an international alliance named "Maritime Freedom Structure" to restore shipping through the critical sea lane.
Meanwhile, the UK and France are leading efforts to assemble an alliance of dozens of nations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but only once regional peace is assured. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot affirmed that these two blocs are "not of the same nature" and will be complementary rather than competitive.
