The Office of the US Trade Representative yesterday released its annual report assessing global intellectual property protection and enforcement. In the report, the US identified Vietnam as a "priority foreign country", a designation for nations requiring special attention on this issue.
Commenting on the development, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated today: "In recent times, Vietnam has made significant efforts in intellectual property protection, including improving its regulatory framework, raising public awareness, and enhancing international cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the US, and many other countries; resolutely combating and strictly addressing intellectual property infringements." She added that this commitment is both a high priority and a consistent policy for Vietnam, aimed at building a healthy, transparent business environment and transforming its growth model, with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers.

"We request that the US side provide an objective, balanced assessment of Vietnam's efforts and achievements in intellectual property protection," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized. According to Hang, Vietnam is actively and effectively cooperating with the US in this field, ready to share information and clarify Vietnam's policies and regulations. She believes both sides need to continue close coordination to adequately address differences, for the benefit of both countries, and to build a stable, balanced, and sustainable economic and trade cooperation framework.
