Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived today at 10 Downing Street, the UK leader's residence in London, to meet French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Opening the meeting, Starmer emphasized the necessity of a just and lasting peace solution for Ukraine. In response, Zelensky thanked the UK Prime Minister for hosting the meeting, adding that it was a crucial time to discuss all sensitive issues related to the Ukraine conflict.

The French President emphasized, "we all support Ukraine and peace". He stated, "we hold many cards", adding that the Russian economy is weakening. He also spoke about the need to bring Europe and the US closer to agree on a way forward.
"These could be decisive days for all of us regarding Ukraine", the German Chancellor said.
He stated that Germany and other countries have always strongly supported Ukraine because "the fate of this country is the fate of Europe". He also expressed skepticism about some details in the new US peace proposal, stating those were also points he wished to discuss with European leaders.
President Macron said the meeting of the four leaders in London aimed to find common ground among US, European, and Ukrainian allies on a viable peace agreement to end the conflict. Afterward, all parties could move to a "new phase", working towards ensuring the best possible conditions for Ukraine, for Europe, and for collective security.
After the leaders entered closed-door talks, President Zelensky posted a photo of the four at 10 Downing Street, with the caption: "Ensuring true security is always a shared challenge and effort. Thank you for your support".
The content of the discussions is currently unknown, but a source at the Elysee Palace told reporters that the meeting "allows for continued joint work" among the parties on the US-proposed peace plan, as well as what Europe can bring to the negotiating table, particularly security guarantees and proposals for Ukraine's post-conflict reconstruction.
