2026 Volvo XC70 debuts globally, starting at 41,900 USD

The high-riding SUV features a PHEV powertrain, an electric range of up to 180 km, two versions, and a top price of 46,100 USD.

Swedish automaker Volvo has launched the new generation XC70 in China, reviving the nameplate after its discontinuation in 2016. The XC70 2026 is built on the company's new Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform.

The new XC70 is positioned between the XC60 and XC90.

The XC70 measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,895 mm.

The XC70 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and is available in two versions.

The XC70 is priced between 41,900 and 46,100 USD in China.

Daytime running lights feature Volvo's signature "Thor's Hammer" design with 46 LEDs. The LED headlights are positioned lower.

Alloy wheels are available in 19 or 21 inches, depending on the version.

The 2026 Volvo XC70 is available in two versions: the 2WD Long Range at 41,900 USD and the 4WD Ultra Long Range at 46,100 USD. Seven exterior color options are available for Chinese customers.

The XC70's exterior borrows cues from the new XC90 and EX90, highlighted by Volvo's signature "Thor's Hammer" daytime running lights positioned above the lower-set headlights. A new grille with active shutters optimizes aerodynamics. The overall shape is consistent with other Volvo SUVs, featuring vertical C-shaped taillights extending down the tailgate.

The five-seat interior embodies Volvo's signature style, offering a calming atmosphere with light-colored leather and fabric. The XC70 is Volvo's first model to feature a 15.4-inch horizontally oriented touchscreen. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel, and a 92-inch head-up display (HUD) is optional.

Positioned between the XC60 and XC90, the new XC70 utilizes a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, a system gaining popularity in China. The XC70 2026's PHEV system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with three electric motors. The gasoline engine produces 161 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, while the electric motors generate 80, 143, and 209 horsepower, respectively.

The 4WD version features a 39.6 kWh battery pack from CATL, providing an electric range of 180 km and a total hybrid range of 1,200 km. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.28 seconds and boasts a fuel consumption of 6.55 liters/100 km. The 2WD version utilizes a 21.2 kWh battery pack, offering a 100 km electric range.

Volvo has equipped the 2026 XC70 with its latest Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and numerous standard safety features.
