In August, Vietnamese customers are welcoming a series of new car models. Notable electric vehicles include the Lynk & Co 02 and Wuling Grango. Additionally, new internal combustion engine models like the standard Lynk & Co 03 and the new generation BMW X1 are arriving. Meanwhile, the Chinese Jaecoo J5 is assembled in Vietnam, offering a full range of powertrain options.

Jaecoo J5 – Chinese car assembled in Vietnam

The B-segment SUV, Jaecoo J5, is produced by Chinese automaker Omoda & Jaecoo, part of the Chery group, and assembled at the Geleximco-Chery joint venture factory in Hung Yen.

A highlight of the J5 is its comprehensive powertrain options for Vietnamese customers: internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid (HEV), and battery electric vehicle (BEV). The J5 is available in four variants: the J5 Premium (ICE) priced at 599 million dong, the J5 SHS-H Premium (HEV) at 669 million dong, the J5 SHS-H Flagship (HEV) at 749 million dong, and the J5 Flagship (BEV) also at 749 million dong.

Lynk & Co 02 – coupe-style electric CUV

The 02 is Lynk & Co's first all-electric model distributed in Vietnam. Imported from China, it targets young, dynamic customers. This all-electric coupe CUV is sold in two variants: the Pro priced at 818 million dong and the Halo at 898 million dong.

The Lynk & Co 02 features a rear-axle electric motor, delivering 268 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5,5 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h. Its 66 kWh battery provides a range of 435 km on a full charge. The battery supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes. AC charging is supported up to 11 kW. The vehicle also includes V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality with a power output of 3,3 kW.

Lynk & Co 03 – C-segment sports sedan

The C-segment sedan, Lynk & Co 03, is imported directly from China. The 03 is a sports model; previously, the manufacturer brought the high-performance 03+ version to Vietnam via special orders rather than batch imports. The new 03 is available in two variants: the Plus priced at 739 million dong and the Pro at 788 million dong.

The 03 is equipped with a 1,5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 170 horsepower at 5.500 rpm and a maximum torque of 290 Nm from 2.000-3.500 rpm. It features a 7-speed 7DC dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive. The top speed is 205 km/h, with a claimed fuel consumption of 6,35 liters/100 km.

Wuling Grango – 7-seat electric MPV

The Wuling Grango MPV, with dimensions between compact and mid-size, is an all-electric vehicle offering a 300 km range. It is one of the most affordable MPVs in Vietnam, priced at 499 million dong for its single variant. The interior features a 7-seat configuration (2+2+3), fabric seats, manual air conditioning, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and an analog speedometer combined with a 3,5-inch TFT screen. The steering wheel lacks buttons and offers electric power steering. Gear selection is via an electronic rotary knob.

The Grango is powered by a rear-axle electric motor producing 101 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 135 km/h. According to manufacturer specifications, the Grango's battery has a capacity of 32,6 kWh, providing a range of 300 km. With a 6,6 kW AC charger, a full charge takes approximately five hours. The car also supports 50 kWh DC fast charging.

New generation BMW X1

The 2026 BMW X1 represents the third generation of the German brand's smallest versatile SUV. After being sold in Vietnam for about five years, the X1 enters its new generation. Compared to its predecessor, the new X1 features a completely redesigned exterior and interior. Its dimensions are also larger. The new generation X1 is priced from 1.689 billion dong.

The new X1 appears squarer and more muscular than the previous version. The adaptive LED headlights are redesigned with hook-shaped dual daytime running lights, and the kidney grille is larger and more upright. At the rear, a 3D block design style is evident in the taillights. Inside, the new X1 showcases a distinct technological feel, with two screens dominating the dashboard: a 10,7-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10,25-inch central control screen (behind the steering wheel). Silver aluminum trim accents throughout the cabin create a modern, youthful atmosphere.
