Fined for honking to urge other vehicles to yield

Driver fined 2,4 million dong, loses two license points after continuously honking and flashing lights to urge the vehicle ahead on the expressway.

On 19/10, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1, Department 6, under the Traffic Police Department, collaborated with Son Thuy Commune Police in Tuyen Quang Province to work with a driver residing in Son Thuy commune, verifying traffic violations involving a truck.

According to video content reported by the public, the truck entered a construction zone on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, where only one lane was open and the maximum permitted speed was 50 km/h. While the vehicle ahead was traveling at the regulated speed, the truck behind continuously tailgated, using its horn and flashing its front lights to urge the vehicle to go faster.

For these violations, the truck driver was fined 1,5 million dong and had two points deducted from their driver's license for installing additional front lights. The act of continuously using the horn incurred an additional fine of 900,000 dong. The total fine for both offenses amounted to 2,4 million dong.

Continuously using the horn on an expressway can cause noise, distract drivers, and impact their ability to handle situations. When the horn is used loudly or for an extended period, other drivers may be startled, react abruptly, or respond inappropriately, increasing the risk of traffic hazards.

The Traffic Police Department recommends that road users proactively provide information about traffic order and safety violations through official channels to authorities for verification and handling.
