German luxury carmaker BMW has unveiled the new generation i3 for the global market. This marks BMW's first all-electric model developed from the ground up, unlike the electric 3 series in China or the i4, which is an electric version of the 4 series Gran Coupe.

Images reveal the all-electric i3 features a new LED lighting cluster, an illuminated grille surround, and LED strips around the headlights. The new i3 is built on BMW's Neue Klasse architecture, a completely new electric vehicle platform that blends the brand's classic elements with minimalism.
According to Carscoops, the i3's interior will introduce BMW's new Panoramic iDrive interface. Instead of a traditional instrument cluster, information is projected across the lower section of the windshield, complemented by a central touchscreen. BMW states the goal is to keep crucial data closer to the driver while reducing cabin clutter.
Alongside these images, BMW revealed details about the new i3, code-named NA0, with production slated for late 2026. Upon its launch, the electric low-slung model will be offered as the i3 50 xDrive, featuring two electric motors that produce 469 horsepower and 645 Nm of torque.
The top-tier i3 variant will utilize the same 108 kWh NMC battery as the iX3, as reported by Car Magazine. Given the i3's potentially lighter and more aerodynamic design, its operating range is expected to exceed 805 km.

The new i3 will be sold globally.
Similar to the iX3, the new i3 is built on an 800V platform and supports DC fast charging up to 400 kW. This capability allows the large-capacity battery to charge from 10-80% in just 21 minutes.
The new BMW i3 is scheduled to debut on 18/3.
